What?
It is a family of push switch, regulator, and outlet integrated into a wall mounted plate.
Why?
This electrical
fixture challenges
the conventional
push switch usage, expanding accessibility to people with impaired hand or finger function.
How?
Increased use of the elbow during covid sparked this design problem. The joystick-like function helped simplify the usability, making the experience familiar, and enjoyable.
Ideation
Prototyping
Use your elbow to rotate the regulator and set the desired light intensity or fan speed.
Plug in and use any outlet of the 4 gang arrangement.
Push the switch
with your elbow
to turn it on.
Use
The design addresses the various problems associated with the ubiquitous switch
The regulator was inspired by the joystick of a game controller and it works in a similar manner
A simple design that focuses on removing confusion regarding the on/off direction
Designed during the pandemic,
this was intended to be used by
the elbow
It keeps in mind the accessibility criteria for specially-abled people
